Now that we’re all through the cold winter nights it’s time to start preparing our minds and our bodies for Spring. As the warmer months approach it is the perfect time to look our lifestyles and make a few important changes which can not only improve your health, but also your general wellbeing.
Track Your Habits
The first thing we should all be doing is tracking our habits. Making a list of everything that you do daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly is the first important step to take care of your mental health and wellbeing. Jotting down your daily habits brings them into a reality and you can then decide which ones you are going to keep and vice versa.
You will start to notice emerging patterns by jotting them down and asking yourself which themes and patterns you notice. Label them as ‘good’ habits or ‘bad’ habits and start to let go of the bad ones.
Our lives are built on repetition, and we use exactly this method to eliminate our bad habits. If you lessen the opportunity to participate in this habit, then the easier it is to remove. Once you have removed it, you can replace it with a good one. A good example of this would be if you play on your phone before you go to sleep. Something as simple as switching your phone out for a book will get your body ready for a sleeping state rather than being kept awake by blue light.
If you like to eat unhealthy food, then focus on the positives of becoming healthy. Longer life expectancy, increased fitness levels, higher energy levels etc. Telling yourself these things will make you think twice about eating those biscuits with your cup of tea.
Make New Healthy Habits
Any new healthy habit starts with a plan. Deciding to do something very rarely happens unless you plan it first. You decide you want to join the gym, great… but when are you going? Which gym are you joining? How long will you be working out for? What routines will you be doing? If you note all of these down, then it becomes a regular routine. A regular routine is a habit.
You may decide that you want to enjoy a monthly massage. What type of massage do you want? Is my aim to relax or repair my body? If you stick to the routine, then you’ve just unlocked a new healthy habit. We recommend that you book in for regular massage therapy sessions to keep your body mindset and your physical state in the best shape possible.
We have several trained therapists that will happily discuss regular sessions depending on your individual circumstances. If you start small and take control of one or two habits at a time, then your daily routine will adapt for the better.
